A definition of ‘gift’ is “the transfer of something without the expectation of payment”. It is an expression of love or friendship, and people receiving a gift receive a psychological boost which apparently releases endorphins to the brain producing feelings of happiness, pleasure and joy.
There are so many reasons to give gifts: to celebrate Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Mothers and Fathers Day, Valentines Day, Christmas, even a special teacher gift or ‘Star Baker’ gift perhaps, or maybe just as a thank you. Giving a gift shows friendship, love and caring and often doesn’t need a reason. So why wouldn’t we give a gift?
